The title page is missing, but the owner of book indicated in pencil "(Title p. missing. History of the Civil War- Vol. II by J.S.C. Abbott -1866.) The volume has been illustrated throughout with images of important figures in the war. Generally, this is a solid copy of Vol. II. 629 pages. 9.75" by 6.5" JOHN S. C. ABBOTT: 19th-century American historian and clergyman, Abbott was already known for his popular biography of Bonaparte before the outbreak of the Civil War. At the height of the conflict, Abbott began work on this History, one of his most well-known works. This two-volume chronicle, which is “strongly pro-Union” and anti-slavery, displays Abbott’s skill at bringing the war to life.
