The vintage Tilso triple glass decanter set with a lockable brass tantalus/caddy is a rare item in that some Tilso 2 decanter models may be found, but those with 3 are virtually impossible to discover for purchase.
12” from top of handle to bottom of caddy, 9.5” wide, 3.5” deep. Free shipping!
The tantalus, a lockable cabinet for spirit decanters, was designed to prevent “hired help” or children from accessing the liquor.
The 3 glass decanters have no chips or cracks and the brass caddy has its original provenance; not polished or cleaned by this shop.
It includes a music box mechanism that plays a tune (“How Dry I Am.”) It will need adjustment.
This triple glass decanter set was made by the Tilso Company in Japan circa 1960 or late ‘50’s. This uniquely designed set plays music only while carrying or lifted off the ground. The music box device upon bottom is activated by a lifting stem, which only allows the music box to play while lifted. "How Dry I Am", the tune, may reference carrying the decanters to be refilled, or refilling someone else's glass. The casing is made of brass with patina shown throughout. The handle lifts open to access each decanter, the handle locks and unlocks as it should. Lock and key are included. Each bottle shows a gold swirl motif on both sides. The original corks have dried and are missing.
