INNOCENCE-SHATTERED is a 13-episode scripted  television series based on stories told by current women inmates who are living in prison without the possibility of parole or actually already on Death Row.  Their common connection is that each has had her innocence shattered by abuse perpetrated on her in her youth. Each inmate desires to share her individual story of how abuse led her to committing a heinous crime.  The women hope that by telling their stories they might prevent other young women from similar fates of self-loathing, horrific memories, and self-destruction. Inmates will grant interviews subject to prison rules.Each episode has a unique story, location, and circumstances which led up to the harsh sentence that, had the accused been a man, would probably not have been issued, dropped completely, or mitigated. TOPICS TO BE ADDRESSED: TEEN KILLERS:  abuse, neglect, dysfunctional family, drugs leading to murder. MOLESTATION BY FAMILY (ages 6-11): child abuse may be a motive for killing the abuser. POSSIBLE WRONG CONVICTION: ineffective counsel, malicious prosecution, false evidence, etc. MATERNAL FILICIDE:  depression, psychosis, mental health issues lead to killing their own. GANGSTERS/MURDERERS/HITMEN: wrong place at the wrong time, paid killer, part of a gang. TRANSGENDER DISCRIMINATION:   transformation led to murder and a struggle to stay alive.   NATIVE AMERICAN DISCRIMINATION:   woman subjected to ineffective counsel, etc. which resulted in an extremely harsh sentence. Arthur B. Pulitzer has corresponded with over 200+inmates via letters, email, and phone calls to the following inmates and some of their relatives.  He has thoroughly read all correspondence and taken notes during direct phone calls; he has also researched the court documents (including appeals) of each inmate.  Each story, as described by the inmate, includes such injustices as:  wrongful conviction, ineffective counsel, racially biased juries, police wrongdoing, evidence withheld, prosecutorial misconduct, racism in the courtroom, and constitutional rights’ violations. Inmate backgrounds include horrific conditions such as:  incest, parental abuse, domestic violence, poverty, drugs, and sexual abuse.
